Autodesk Mechanical Desktop 2005 is a feature-based, parametric 3D modeling and 2D drafting application built on AutoCAD 2005 for mechanical design. It lets engineers create parts and assemblies using constraints and familiar operations such as extrude, revolve, sweep, and loft, then produce associative 2D drawings and detailing directly from the model. Through its integration with AutoCAD Mechanical, it offers standards-based drafting tools, parts libraries, and automated annotations to speed documentation.

Mechanical Desktop 2005 supports mass-properties calculations, interference checking, exploded views, and the creation of bills of materials and balloons, all within the native DWG environment to simplify collaboration. While later succeeded by Autodesk Inventor, Mechanical Desktop 2005 remains useful for maintaining legacy models and drawings and for teams standardized on AutoCAD-centric workflows.

Mechanical Desktop 2005 is developed by Autodesk. The most popular version of this product among our users is 9.0. The name of the program executable file is acad.exe.
